I love my charity, PowerUp.org, because it operates with collaboration at it’s core. I don’t believe in reinventing the wheel and the success of PowerUp has been anchored by finding partners to work with to bring our resources together for the greatest amount of impact. I believe technology is the future. There is an unspoken expectation that today’s child must be prepared for the high-tech world of tomorrow. Despite the widespread availability of technology and connectivity, many children who come from disadvantaged areas and technologically-disengaged home environments are at risk of being left behind. Having access to learning tools is critical to the development of children and their future contribution to a global society. Our current project is in collaboration with Corpus Christi Metro Ministries, whose mission is to help create a community that is free from hunger and homelessness.
Working with Metro Ministries, our goal is to build a computer academy. As a growing leader on new and improved educational techniques, PowerUp continues to research and discover advanced ways to effectively teach and use technology in order to live the best life possible.
The proposed resource will be geared to serve the residents of Metro to allow them to learn anytime they would like, and prepare them for entry into the workforce and/or entrepreneurship, bridging the digital divide.
